Chinese troops broke Japanese positions at Yungsui after a three hour fight, crossing the Siao River and routing the invaders. Yungsui lies on the Kiukiang Nanchang rail line thirty miles north of Nanchang, a key air base and Kiangsi capital. The Japanese advance along the railway has moved only fifty miles in 135 days of fighting. The Chinese also reported a stalled Japanese push west from Hankow along a zigzag line toward Tsaoshih, fifty miles west.
In Warsaw on December 9, Ukrainian deputies presented a bill to the Sejm speaker demanding territorial autonomy for Ukrainians in Poland. The proposed region includes Volhynia and Halicz, about 50,000 square miles with 8,000,000 people. The Sejm speaker reserved ruling on bringing the proposal to the chamber.
