Amaroillo area death linked to fight and roadside auto
William M. Meggs 36 of Fort Towson Oklahoma was found dead yesterday morning in a roadside ditch about ten miles southwest of Amarillo. An autopsy by Dr. A J Dowling of Amarillo cited a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage from two or three blows. Randall County Sheriff M E Cantrell said the death is connected to a fight in Amarillo on Wednesday. Two farm workers L S Newby and Robert M Brazill were questioned after reporting Meggs was picked up in their truck near Hollywood Station seven miles southwest of Amarillo. The truck became stuck and was later pulled out by Willard Speiser. Meggs body was found behind the rear wheels of the stuck pickup and is at Griggs Warren Funeral Home in Canyon.
