Patricia Pearl Tripp, a four year old orphan, was abducted at gunpoint from the home of her grandparents in Rensselaer Ind. The earlier effort to adopt her by extended relatives ended in a court dispute won by the Smith family two years ago.
In Washington today President Hoover and his cabinet studied France and Britain's demand to postpone war debt payments due December 15. Congress remains opposed to cancellation or postponement, with lawmakers criticizing arms buildup and urging payment.
Police reconstruct the apartment death of Leona Smiley Buchanan a 28 year old woman. They suspect a female culprit wrote a camouflaged note and staged the scene with a pin to mislead investigators. The victim was strangled with a silk stocking and found with bruises and a missing diamond ring.

In Northwest Manchuria Japanese forces and Chinese regulars fought three stiff battles in subzero weather, with at least 200 soldiers killed. Japanese advance northwest toward the Soviet border and consolidate near Chalantun, while reporting 24 Chinese corpses.
The Federal Radio Commission reversed an examiner and denied Radio Station KGRS Amarillo Texas a request to shift from 1410 to 1340 kilocycles. Radio Station WSPD Toledo presented as a respondent before the commission.
A. L. Tudor, Slaton grain and coal dealer, was found guilty of slaying Dr. H. Adams in Slaton on October 13. The jury in 99th district court sentenced him to two years in the state penitentiary. Tudor waived delay, appealed to the court of criminal appeals, and was released on a $5,000 bond. The four day trial ended after about four hours of deliberation with roughly fifteen ballots.
Cincinnati reports William Green unanimously chosen president of the American Federation of Labor for the ninth consecutive year. He reiterates a plan for unemployment insurance and a 30 hour week and vows vigorous action when cooperation fails. Green began leading in 1924 after Samuel Gompers’s death.
A Federal Court jury found John Gregg, president of the defunct Merchants' National Bank at Brownsville, guilty on all 12 counts of the indictment alleging wide violations of national banking laws.
Fort Worth 18 year old Stanley Penn, a newsboy and boxer, bled to death after colliding with the glass door of a parked car during a street football scrimmage behind the Fort Worth Press building. He suffered a six inch chest wound and died before a blood transfusion could be completed at the city hospital.
President Von Hindenburg named Gen. Kurt Von Schleicher, long seen as the power behind Von Papen's government, to form a presidential cabinet to tackle Germany's domestic crisis as winter nears. If successful, Schleicher would become chancellor, leaving the defense ministry.
The defense rested in the Eagles lottery trial in federal court before Judge Frank J. Coleman. Defendants include Conrad H. Mann Kansas City business leader and Eagles bazaar head Frank E Hering editor of the Eagles Magazine and promoters Bernard C. McGuire and Raymond Walsh. Prosecutor Louis Mead Treadwell called Robert E. Proctor of Elkhart Indiana as rebuttal.
Kenneth Haygood, 19, was arrested in Houston on four indictments accusing him of running a disorderly house where high school boys and girls met by appointment. Indictments followed a Harris County grand jury probe into vice conditions among juveniles.
Roy King a 28 year old farmer was shot and seriously wounded in Gladewater Texas during an argument with a man over a $1.50 debt. The second man fled after the shooting and authorities pursued leads promptly.

Proposals include revising the pay cut for federal employees from 8 to 13 percent toward 10 to 15 percent and instituting a sales tax on all goods except life essentials. An open Senate hearing will allow employees to present views.
A third postponement was granted in the extradition hearing of Martin J. Insull, former utilities magnate. Chicago charges of grand larceny and embezzlement follow the Insull utilities collapse. February 7 was set as the new date after the Cook County attorney said they were not ready.
Lon A. Smith said the State Railroad Commission may act next week to cut the total production allowance for Texas oil fields from the present 849,625 barrels daily. The statement was issued in Austin.

Cleburne December 2 county attorney Penn J. Jackson said the body of Mrs. J D Martin who died months ago at her home north of Grandview would be exhumed tomorrow morning. A court order for exhumation was issued Wednesday.
