UN Troops Capture Bloody Ridge in East Korea
United Nations forces fought to the top of Bloody Ridge after a day of savage fighting and held lines against Communist counter-attacks. South Koreans seized the hill early in an Allied offensive north of Yanggu, then the North Koreans retook it earlier in the week. UN forces moved up again amid rain and low clouds, reporting mopped up at 8:30 PM. The Allied command said 220,000 pounds of emergency rations, ammunition, and medical supplies were air dropped Thursday to UN troops in the east Korea mountains.
