Four Drown in Bovina Flood

Four persons drowned early today in a small creek east of Bovina as a family motor car was swept downstream. Mrs. C. B. Waddell and her two daughters died. the husband and toddler survived. Richard Caldwell, searching for bodies, drowned while aiding. Search efforts continued as waters rose after a six inch rain.

Pilot lands plane after gas fumes flight to New Mexico

Ted Hereford, a westbound pilot on the Kansas City to Albuquerque leg, lands his Northrup low wing monoplane near Tucumcari, New Mexico after a morning stop in Amarillo. He was reportedly drunk on gas fumes and could not explain how he landed or where his parachute and gear are. The pilot later continued his flight.

Capt James A Mollison left St John New Brunswick for Sydney Nova Scotia en route Harbor Grace to resume the Atlantic crossing. He had landed at Nerepis the day before and hoped to reach Sydney today with a possible landing at Prince Edward Island if needed. The weather cleared allowing a smooth flight. Sterling Leads Ferguson in Texas Governor Runoff Vote Totals

Dallas reports 938,175 votes counted with Gov Sterling ahead by 1,675 among 187 of 254 counties. At 11 A M the Texas Election Bureau listed Sterling 466,318 to Ferguson 462,689 with 169 counties fully reporting. Other races include Railroad Commissioner and Supreme Court results and no further tabulations since Sunday.

Gas hearing to be held in Amarillo by Texas Railroad Commission

Kidnap Bank Clerk After $3000 Armed Robbery

In Bridgeport two masked men robbed the First National Bank this morning and abducted assistant cashier Roger Ray. A confederate waited in an automobile as the trio escaped with about $3000. Ray was released about a mile from Bridgeport. Bank president Frank Turner said loot is under check.

Rescue Babe Found Starved in Dark Room Slated for Court

A three year old boy Loren Hochter, found naked and malnourished in a dark room, was taken to the Gallia County children's home. Prosecutors summoned Mr and Mrs Sylvester Hochter of Addison to explain the pitiful condition as doctors noted possible recovery with nourishment. the matter was described by a probate judge as one to be publicly horse whipped.

Perryton Man Takes Lead in Solon Ballot

B L Rogers of Perryton led A Johnson of Dalhart for the 124th state district seat by more than 600 votes in a near complete count from 10 Panhandle counties. Total votes show Rogers 5 695 to Johnson 5 071 with 15 Hutchinson County and 2 Hemphill County ballots still uncounted. In the 122nd district, John Puryear of Wellington appeared to have ousted Judge Ivy Duncan of Pampa.
