Huey Long Filibuster Seen As Failure and Band Visit Planned
The United Confederate veterans saw Huey Longs filibuster as a failure while the United States Marine Band plans a reunion appearance here. By agreement with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway the band will travel to Amarillo on credit and arrive Tuesday September 3 at 7 45 p.m. Officials expect reimbursement when Congress reconvenes after a budget move secured by Congressman Marvin Jones. President Roosevelt and budget officials assured next budget estimates will include funds to repay the C O Railway. WEW will meet tonight at the American Legion Hall to hear plans to entertain Confederate veterans and to install Roy Shield as Senior Commander of the VFW post succeeding D A Higgins.
