Beaten Mine Pickets May Resume March In Illinois
Approximately one third of the routed army of striking miners reformed near here for a possible second march into Franklin County. Deputies opened fire on an airplane over the battle ground while hundreds of deputies fought to repel the invasion. About 15,000 marchers had attempted to invade Franklin County in what leaders called the greatest labor march in US history.

In New York Auk 25 leading commodity markets surged as speculators bought raw materials across the board. Cotton rose over a dollar a bale to fresh yearly highs while wheat gained two cents a bushel and rubber futures climbed 17 to 21 points. Silk and hide prices also advanced as traders replenished stocks after long inactivity, with brisk orders to buy feeding rapid turnover and minor profit-taking dips. The cotton rally alone lifted the crop value by about 300 million dollars compared to the August government estimate.

McGaffey's father-in-law died in the Mount Taylor crash of a TWA plane in Arizona.
