Fred Mendenhall Texas representative of an eastern oil syndicate proposes raising the East Texas per well allowance to 150 barrels and exporting a surplus to Europe. He claims a market of 20 million barrels with 3 million shipped and offers to post cash in Texas banks to guarantee acceptance. He says illegal production pressures prices and could trigger a quick price cut if unchecked.
High school and junior high students will begin at 8 o'clock Monday morning. Miss Elizabeth Nixon, principal of Central Junior High, announced the start time. All students are urged to report early.
Forecast for Amarillo and West Texas calls for partly cloudy skies tonight and Wednesday with probable showers in the extreme west portion and Panhandle. Temperatures peak to 83 this afternoon and 70 by 1 PM.
U.S. District Attorney C. E. Sandall said federal law was violated by about 300 men who broke into a cattle car after stopping a freight train near Emerson Nebraska. He indicated an injunction under Sherman Act section one could be sought once a formal complaint is filed.

Thirteen people, including men and women of diverse backgrounds, were arraigned before the U S Commissioner after a series of federal and county raids Monday afternoon. The raids netted about 1000 gallons of mash 1000 bottles of beer and about 25 gallons of whiskey and alcohol some of which was bonded liquor. Bond amounts varied with charges including possession and sale of beer and whiskey with several defendants awaiting further arraignments and some to be dismissed or released. The operation was led by federal prohibition agent R C McCall and involved four groups of officers sweeping the city for three hours beginning at 1 PM.
In Beuthen five Fascists were sentenced to death for killing a Communist. Hitler vowed to battle the government and warned of reprisal, pledging to save the condemned and to confront Von Papen's regime.
Texas Rangers under Capt Tom Hickman arrested about 60 men in raids at Gladewater and Kilgore in the East Texas oil field on Sunday night and Monday. The operation was quiet and prisoners were brought to Longview, with two bank robbery suspects among those seized.
Major James H. Doolittle, famed air ace, landed safely in Wichita after an hourlong, risky struggle with jammed retractable landing gear. He circled above the airport attempting to free the wheels before descent.
Police report the arrest of two men on Tuesday. J P Howard 27 admitted stealing 21 pairs of silk hose from Sears Roe Buck Co department store at 919 Polk Street. He claimed he would be hungry and cold without the haul.
In a Tuesday letter the Taxpayers League asks Mayor Ross D. Rogers to appoint five disinterested citizens to investigate the August 11 tractor contract. An affidavit claims an implement man saw the original order in Dallas in July before bids were advertised. The mayor had not yet taken office and was on a vacation in New Mexico when the contract was awarded.
New licenses drew demand at the county clerk as hunting seasons announced. Mourning doves open September 1 in this region, with prairie chickens allowed for four days starting September 1 and ducks geese in for two months beginning November 1.
Judges and voting sites for the Potter County run off on Saturday remain the same as July 23. Twenty precincts reported good handling of ballots amid a 150-candidate slate, with governor race drawing most interest in a smaller, faster count and early results expected apart from tightly contested races.

Forty eight departed El Paso but Charles Spencer Jr Douglas Arizona diverted back and reported a filler down 25 miles east of El Paso with the ship on its nose. John Hardesty Taft California first to take off. William Powell Los Angeles and Irving Wells also aboard landed after missing since leaving Tucson yesterday evening. Powell said motor trouble forced a landing on an emergency field at Mt. Riley last night Eldon Cessna Wichita Kansas led.
United Press reports author William P. Helm exposes alleged graft and waste in Congress in Washington Swindle Sheet. The book claims misuse of mileage, nickeled bottle openers, snuff, sandboxes, a private restaurant payroll and a Senate barber shop funded by taxpayers. It cites Senators who claimed unneeded expenses in 1930 and lists lawmakers tied to a family payroll racket.
