A son was born to Mrs. Charles A Lindbergh and Anne Morrow in Englewood New Jersey at 7 30 AM. The mother and infant are reported doing well. Colonel Lindbergh confirmed the birth by telephone and praised the congratulations. The couple had previously suffered the loss of their first son Charles Augustus Jr who was kidnapped and found slain near Hopewell NJ.
Grace Waters, Granite Reformatory warden, says middle-aged guards lacked nerve to fire as 23 convicts escaped Saturday night. The fugitives terrorized SW Oklahoma and parts of Texas, abducting motorists and firing on passersby. six were captured, 17 still sought with Oklahoma and Texas authorities. Waters had overseen a six year tenure with only 15 prior escapes.
Hickman Price Jr returns from six months in Russia to speak at the Municipal Auditorium on Wednesday night about mode of living economic and social problems in Russia. He was involved with the Soviet government in introducing American agricultural methods.
Gov R Sterling announced a proclamation calling a special session of the legislature to meet September 5 or earlier to push his plan to issue county highway bonds funded by a set aside of gasoline tax proceeds to pave roads. He spokes in Vernon and outlined measures to prevent legislative changes. Senator Clint C Small will campaign for Sterling in Texas regions with stops in Waco Waxahcie Corsica and Groesbeck.
