A West Texas windstorm damaged about 106 planes at Pyote Air Force Base with many C-48 transports most harmed while several B-29s suffered lesser damage. The storm also ripped roofs from a large portion of the Marta grandstand. No injuries were reported. Rain flooded the field and lightning caused a temporary power outage.

Juanita Simonds a five year old girl from the Chansler Weymouth ranch north Amarillo died at St Anthony's Hospital after being struck by a southbound car on North Fillmore.
