A two day program of conferences on business and educational problems of Texas state teachers colleges began in Canyon with a breakfast at the Herring Hotel Amarillo hosted by Dr J A Hill president of West Texas State Teachers College Canyon. The session opened in Canyon at 10 o clock marking the quarterly regents meeting with all board members and presidents of seven state teachers colleges in attendance.

Amarillo youth shot while siphoning gas
W. D. Owens an 18 year old Amarillo youth was seriously wounded late last night when Durwood Gordon fired buckshot from a 12 gauge shotgun as Owens allegedly attempted to steal gasoline from Jerry Ratcliff’s car at 1509 Hayden Street. A second youth Jimmy Whie, 17, was jailed in connection with the case. Gordon reported Owens and another man siphoning gas and taking tools from Bryan Hull’s car at 1611 Hayden Street.
