Eden Sipe reports a 15th burglary by the phantom last night in Southwest Amarillo. A home at 1317 B Herman was entered through a bedroom window as Mrs Lodgsden and three others listened to a radio program. About $20 and a rare coin were taken, a coin bank and wallet remain missing. Police reported no fingerprints or footprints.
Dallas reports state tips from underworld informers reached Ranger HQ about the blast that killed gambler Herbert Noble at his Grapevine ranch. Capt. Bob Crowder said tips have ruled out suspects and led only to dead ends after vague clues and a blue pickup were checked. Noble, 41, died when a land mine exploded under his car. his wife Mildred had been killed in prior attempts. His daughter Frieda Deeds arrived from New York for services, amid guarded surroundings as the family copes with the 12th assassination attempt in five years.
Army coach Blaik, 54, vows not to quit as 90 cadets face dismissal over an honor code violation. A lunchtime briefing at Leone's cafe drew about 300 attendees and cameramen as Blaik pledged forthright discussion and weighs two paths: stay and rebuild or resign to show solidarity with the cadets.

Also injured LaVonda Yeckley 13 Snyder Yeckley child 13 months and Mrs Joy Messick 20. injuries to Eugene P Laird. The crash occurred on US Highway 60 east of Salome as the Moore and Laird cars swerved to avoid each other. Moore foreman for Long Bell Lumber Company and the Moores had been traveling from Amarillo to California via Los Angeles and Pantex Village residence.
Weatherman H C Winburn says a cool air mass will bring lower lows around 63 degrees tonight after a hot period with Panhandle highs near 83 today and 92 this afternoon. He notes showers in western Kansas aided cooling while downstate Texas endures heat with several heat deaths and water restrictions spreading across Dallas Tyler Temple and other cities. Cotton yields in affected areas are forecast below 100 pounds per acre.
Leonard Speers aged 34 received a $100 fine in Orangeville for a scuffle with a man over a longstanding debt of 50 cents. The incident occurred recently and the court documented the offense as a public disturbance arising from the quarrel.

An Amarillo milk truck driver, after 15 years without alcohol, drank at a friend’s invitation. He then crashed into a house, struck a parked car, and fell from the truck. He pled guilty to driving while intoxicated in Potter County Court, is fined $160 plus costs.
