In Oklahoma ten miles north of Idabel two peace officers Constable W. D. Wil moth and Deputy Jasper Whitten were wounded while attempting to arrest an automobile thief, Barney Jones. Bloodhounds joined a multi-state manhunt with posses from four states and doctors warned the officers might die. The incident followed a pursuit near Broken Bow. Jones fled in a grey car with a male and a female accomplice.
James Ayling and Leonard Reid aim for a non stop flight from Wasaga Beach Ontario to Baghdad Iraq in the Trail of the Caribou. They cleared the beach at 6 12 A M EDT and passed Quebec at 10 05 A M EST with 6500 mile route ahead over the North Atlantic.
Seven or eight men stood outside the North Side Democratic Club rooms when a bomb was thrown last midnight. No injuries were reported. The club had been tied to John Lazia, slain recently, a Democratic leader and lieutenant of Missouri political boss T. J. Pendergast.

Missouri re-nominated Truman and named Pendergast ally Patterson as Republican nominee. Kansas saw Landon renominated for governor as Ketchum led the Democratic race.

In Dallas Oak Cliff the dynamite bomb from a car ignited a price war tactic early today at a filling station. The blast shattered windows around the block and was heard for miles though no injuries were reported. Police said two men in a car circling the block tossed the explosive in front of a home.
Judge H. E. Hoover of Canada is named Panhandle chairman of the Allied for Governor club formed at a meeting yesterday. Supporters who led the Democratic primary for governor attended from across the Panhandle region. J. M. Pischer of Amarillo was named vice chairman of the Panhandle organization.
Irving Kessell of Boston was killed near Tulsa when his stunt plane crashed at about 1,000 feet after a wing appeared to fail under strain. Witnesses saw the wing break loose from the aircraft.
Minneapolis protective committee telegraphed President Roosevelt asking him to take immediate steps to end the Minneapolis truth drivers' strike dated August 9, with U P reporting.
Hollywood star Conrad Nagel and Ruth Nagel separated after a divorce decree in Juarez Mexico. Custody of their eight year old daughter Ruth went to Ruth Nagel while the couple plan to remain friends. Nagel, a Des Moines native and former Academy president, will live in Malibu and Beverly Hills houses as a property settlement followed.
The third canning plant demonstration school opened this morning with relief authorities from several states and the District of Columbia present. Alfred G. Smith oversees all relief canning for the government and directs the school through Thursday with Lola A. Blair and Roy W. Snyder assisting from A. & M. College.
August 8 Northwest Airways liner crash near Milwaukee injures nine, one critically, as aircraft skids into marsh on takeoff for Chicago. victims include pilots Joseph Ohrback and John Woodhead and passengers M. G. Roe, George Merkes, Donald Couture, Frank Cooper, Arthur Callahan, Lester Edge, and W. R. P. Clark.
Elijan Stuart, 28, of Oklahoma, was sentenced to death by electric chair for killing his 5 year old daughter Dortha to collect a $500 life insurance. A jury found him guilty after a one hour and twenty minute deliberation in Houston. He confessed to strangling Dortha and holding her head under water. He showed no remorse as he left the courtroom.
