Harry Walters Praises Lions Talk On Old Southwest Pageant

Harry Walters, a director of Old Southwest Days, told the Lions Club today that the outdoor set will be the largest in the country with distinctive heating effects. Worst Flood Hits Matagorda Town in History

Matagorda Texas suffered the worst flood in its history as water rose eight inches to several feet along the Colorado River mouth. Officials warned the crest was not yet reached with two more inches expected, and residents relied on motorboats and skiffs to deliver groceries as road traffic failed.

Seaplane Crashes Into Yacht in Azores Landing

The German seaplane Nordwind on an experimental flight from the United States to the Azores collided with a yacht at Horta Azores, injuring none. The craft suffered nose and wing damage while the yacht lost its mast. Nordwind had flown from Port Washington Long Island in 14 hours arriving at noon.

James Dickerson Ranchman Dies at 79

James Dickerson a pioneer cattleman who first came to the Plains in 1879 died suddenly at his Amarillo home. Survivors include wife Mrs. J T Minekerson four sons W W Dickerson Hereford Lawrence Dickerson Wichita Falls J W Dickerson Centralia WA John D Dickerson St Louis MO and two brothers. Amarillo civic groups charter five cattle cars for Old Southwest Days XIT reunion in Dalhart. May Thornton of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce says the American Business Club sold 40 tickets and called for more, with many wives joining. Kiwanis and Lions also chartered cars. No Legal Vote in La Crulla Village Sparks Election Dispute

Auto overturns near English airport injuring three

Three Borger residents were hurt when their car overturned on the Pampa Amarillo road near English airport late last night. D F Phillips suffered a dislocated vertebrae while Bob and his wife Benge sustained non serious injuries.
