Tehran report claims Rahbar front page story says Col. Norman Schwarzkopf ordered shootings at a tobacco factory where two workers died after a clash. The article cites the national police adviser’s involvement in the incident.
Police guard the road to the airport as the Azerbaijan delegation arrives for talks. Negotiations involve the Iranian government, the autonomous Azerbaijani regime, and Kurdish tribes that have clashed with authorities.
A wartime despatch reports troops moving in secrecy into a walled desert village five miles northeast of here. The Tudeh newspaper quotes a trooper claiming Americans paid them to shoot demonstrators, with the Iranian officer in charge at the post referenced as well.

The Soviet delegate Andrei Gromyko kept his hand down as a resolution passed to require the subcommittee to report by May 31. Egyptian delegate Dr Hafez Afifi Pasha named Australia Brazil China France and Poland as members. The council adjourned at 3.36 PM with next meeting date to be announced.
Gen Joseph T McNarney reports in the American occupation zone that Czech border patrols fire indiscriminately into Germany and cross the border illegally to search German homes for Sudeten Germans. Brig Gen Edwin L Sibert says border shooting lacks international significance and both sides work to curb cross border traffic.

Gurley, Rail president, praises early reconversion progress and Amarillo’s growth. officials from San Angelo and Amarillo participate, with gifts and a chamber program at the Herring Hotel.
Paris April 29 The four power foreign ministers conference enters its most crucial session with Italy's North African colonies and the Dodecanese on the agenda. Russian Mediterranean interests pitted against Britain's empire communications as discussions over Tripolitania and trusteeship proposals unfold. The U S backs a UN trusteeship for Libya including Tripolitania and for Eritrea in East Africa.
General Eisenhower departed Hamilton Field California for an inspection tour to Hawaii. He will hold a conference in Tokyo with General MacArthur and visit key Pacific bases not met since before the war.
The Weather Bureau reports a partly cloudy and cooler afternoon with tonight and Tuesday expected to be partly cloudy and warmer. West Texas sees scattered showers this afternoon east of the Pecos River, with cooler tonight and Tuesday. New Mexico expects partial clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon tonight and tomorrow, warmer in the north portion east of the divide. High 80, low 54, noon 63 for the preceding 24 hours.
Somerville New Jersey April 29 Allen La Fever ends his calf lifting marathon after Phoebe grows from 72 pounds to 365. The 17 year old senior says Milo the mythic lifter inspired him but he fears health risks and plans to stop. Phoebe now a prize heifer being groomed for a Columbus Ohio show in October.
W Aubrey Stephenson of Abilene was nominated by the Sweetwater Rotary Club to be district governor of Rotary District 127. The conference opened with services and over 600 Rotarians attended as D D Monroe of Clayton NM spoke on democracy and Rotary’s guard for it.
Local shoppers are invited to visit Russell Stationery Company to purchase office supplies during regular business hours today. The event highlights available products, with emphasis on notebooks, pens, and filing supplies in stock.
In Rome about 300 youths disrupted a mass at San Carlo Church to sing a Fascist hymn in praise of Mussolini. A Florence dispatch reported a black Fascist flag atop the Giotto bell tower briefly seen before police removed it.
Dispatches from Milan report Italian Carabinieri raided a communications equipment plant over the weekend and uncovered three truckloads of ammunition including 51 machineguns.
Rain measured at the Weather Bureau yesterday totaled .15 inches, aiding wheat crops. Stratford recorded the best fall in the Panhandle with 1.47 inches, followed by 0.46 at Panhandle. Other amounts included Adrian .35, Dumas .35, Hereford .23, Memphis .22, Pampa .31, and Shamrock .10. Boise City in the Oklahoma Panhandle reported .80. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies this afternoon and tonight with a rise in temperatures tomorrow. High today around 77, low 50, tomorrow 83.
County commissioners will meet with Northwest Texas Hospital Board to examine a $600,000 bond proposal for 100 beds plus a laundry and nurse home expansion. The panel warned existing facilities may strain heating, food prep, storage, and the elevator system. A second discussion will assess if $600,000 suffices for the planned building.
In Landsberg camp jail twenty Jews began a hunger strike after yesterday’s riot that left two people dead and about forty injured. UNRRA warned that more trouble could occur as nineteen of the strikers were admitted to the jail at their own request in protest of the arrest of the twentieth person.
Military authorities imposed a ten day sundown curfew at Landsberg camp as riots erupted on the streets. Jewish anger toward American forces rose as crowds attacked German civilians and UNRRA officials. American reinforcements restored order after a two hour outbreak.
