In New York on April 29 Jacob Lieberman, once blind for two decades, regained vision after eye surgery at the New York Guild for the Jewish Blind. He walked outside, saw trees and buildings, lit a cigarette unaided, and declared he could not be happier with millions.
Three Negroes die in the electric chair after a tense standoff at the Kentucky prison. Walter Holmes of Chicago resisted for 90 minutes, wounding guard Claude Ramey before surrendering. A. B. Cooksey of Madisonville and Charles Rodgers of Chicago were also executed for murders including Madisonville Police Chief Ashby and Elizabeth town farmer Tom Tillery.
Oklahoma City April 29 Gov Alfalfa Bill Murray plans to speak at a Hudson flower festival on May 21 setting off a potential capital rebellion. The plainsman governor announced an eastern speaking date at Amarillo on an impromptu stump tour after a Texas dash. Observers expect fireworks if Murray keeps the New York engagement and will watch Lieut. Gov. Burns response.

Mexican tenor Jose Mojica arrives in Amarillo from the East for tonight’s 8:15 PM concert at Municipal Auditorium. He recalls his first Amarillo appearance seven years ago and notes his New York to California tour and Fox sound picture work this summer. Troy Sanders will accompany Mojica as he performs Spanish love songs.
The House resumes debate on lowering exemptions from the 11 percent wage cut to 1000 dollars a year with a record vote promised. Frederick Oklahoma April 29 Two youths Glenn Wilkerson 18 and Clyde Meadows 20 were sentenced to seven years each in district court by Judge Frank Mathews after pleading guilty to robbery with firearms following a bank robbery at Indiahoma State Bank and a brief flight ending in their capture.

A bomb exploded on the reviewing stand during a Japanese parade in Shanghai injuring top officials including Mamoru Shigemitsu and Kichisaburo Nomura. Seven people were detained, with suspected involvement by Koreans and a suspect named Fino Ki. An American attache and several foreign attaches escaped injury as a second device failed to detonate.
