Fever by suggestion described by Dr Walsh in Atlanta
At a Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology meeting in Atlanta on April 28 Dr M Kershaw Walsh of the University of South Carolina described how telling a person he has a fever can raise temperature blood pressure and pulse. He noted that suggesting cold can lower temperature and that hypnotic state does not change the effect. He called the shifts an emotional tension and release effect and said physiological bases are not altered by individual suggestibility. Dairy production this spring is up compared with last year and recent years per the Bureau of Agricultural Economics.
