Amarillo City Rejects U S Housing Plan After Survey
The Amarillo City Commission, city manager, and building department conclude there is no sufficient need for a U S Housing Authority project in Amarillo after a survey directed by the city engineering department and conducted with Amarillo Junior College students. Substandard dwellings exist but are scattered. no large blighted area justified federal action, while FHA low cost housing expands eligibility and potential loans. The commission thanks the U S Housing Authority Fort Worth office and Mr Huber Earle, and will pay students 12 cents per survey report.
