Arthur Green was charged with murder for the killing of James Wallace a 35 year old prominent farmer from the Gresham community near Tyler. The incident occurred yesterday and Green faces ongoing legal proceedings.
A 50 year old Black man Allen Green was lynched by a masked mob at the Oconee County jail after being charged with attacking an white girl. Sheriff John Thames was struck and severely injured while resisting the mob. He was hospitalized in Anderson with a fractured skull.
