Jerome B. Wheatley former Panhandle peace officer and Texas Ranger died in Austin at 77. Funeral services were set for 4 this afternoon in Austin. He served as Amarillo police chief 1917 to 1919 and joined the Texas Ranger service in 1921. Survived by his widow a daughter Miss Roma Wheatley of Austin and several nieces and nephews.

City manager A. P. Hancock returns tomorrow from Dallas where he led a two day state convention of Texas city managers.
