The River Road Club gathered at Mrs. J L Glasgow's home on Wednesday afternoon with Texas topics and songs. Members heard talks on Texas pioneer days and the themes included hand work from India and prints from China. The next meeting is set for May 6 at Mrs. James Guyn’s home, 29 Taylor Street.
Members of the Hi Neighbor Club and their husbands attended a games party at the home of Mr and Mrs W M McBroom on North Fairmont Street. A regular club meeting at Mrs Cradfrey’s on Moore Street saw a Red Cross quilt completed and a birthday handkerchief shower for Mrs H L Hooten of Vega.
P T notes health as the program focus directed by Mrs V L Hickerson at the Alice Landergin School PTA. Fourth grade pupils presented a body care playlet and Mrs G F Branson county nurse spoke on Our Physical Heritage. Mrs A Bluhm sang Trees and God Bless America. Mrs Lee W Ryan was elected president with other officers elected.
Sewing clubs meet at Mrs E C Twing home at English Airport with embroidering basic towels and cookies for a service project. The Thursday group at Mrs Clark McCuller's did a Red Cross afghan and cookie parade for the next meeting. Wilson PTA discussed health and defense efforts as students presented an Afghan to the Amarillo Red Cross and a patriotic drill.
Navy Relief Station headquarters at 408 Polk Street campaigns to raise 3180 for Navy Relief Society. Volunteers decorate, display naval artifacts, and plan Tag Day with 10 2 and 1 contributions mapped to serving personnel. Wes Izzard and Amarillo Bank coordinate appeals.

New York April 17 Major R V Boyle told the American Society of Newspaper Editors that many commandos raids along the Nazi coast go unreported. He said rumors spread among German troops and emphasized the toughness and self reliance of the force, noting most operators are from Britain and other Commonwealth nations.
