3500 Planes Strike Across Germany in Heavy Allied Bombing
More than 3500 Allied warplanes struck Germany from Berlin to Regensburg and the Gironde Estuary, hitting rail yards bridges airfields and coastal guns. 750 B-17s focused on Regensburg rail junctions and airfields while 850 B-24s of the Ninth Air Force targeted central Germany and Czechoslovakia. Berlin endured three night raids and Bordeaux coastal targets were hit for a third day.
