William Shaffer 88 a retired oil well driller who had lived here 20 years died at his home early this morning. Funeral services will be held at 2 o clock tomorrow afternoon from Griggs Chapel. Rev Hubert Thompson will conduct the services and burial will be in Liano Cemetery. Surviving him are his wife Rhoda Shaffer. The family home is 1506 Fast Fifth Avenue. He was a member of the Tenth Avenue Methodist Church.
H H Finnell soil chief of the Soil Conservation Service returns from a vacation in Mexico with Mrs Finnell and their youngest son. They reside at 3406 Hayden Street and civic clubs are invited to attend events mentioned in a town talk column filled with vivid anecdotes and curiosities.
Washington April 16 Congressional leaders predicted the first anti lynching bill to pass the House in 15 years would meet stiffer Senate opposition. Filibusters have blocked all prior attempts. House adoption of the Gavagan bill 277 to 119 drew sharp criticism from Senator Borah Idaho who called the effort to force through an unjust unconstitutional and unmoral measure.

Washington treasury data shows receipts of 61.05 million and expenditures 76.37 million for April 14, plus yearly totals and debt down by 103 thousand. Billings Montana sponsors the Golden Jubilee Exposition of Montana to mark the th anniversary of statehood. Plans are underway under the Billings Commercial Club for the event in August 1938.

Mexico City April 16 UP Arrangements were made to send the body of Jack Park a 24 year old newspaper reporter to Dallas Texas for burial. Park died yesterday in a hospital at Tapachula Mexico where he was taken after suddenly becoming ill with jungle fever.
Members of the Texas Optometric Association districts No. 1 and No. 2 will hold a joint meeting here on Sunday, April 18. Dr. T. M. Montgomery, chairman of District No. 1, and Dr. J. C. Anderson of Lubbock, chairman of District No. 2, will oversee the program.
Burl Wagnon, after months in Potter County jail, was moved to Pampa to await trial on robbery with firearms. The Lipscomb County case against him was moved to Wheeler on a change of venue, with trial scheduled there.

A D Lewis of Dwight Morrow School in Amarillo serves as association president. The Panhandle area comprises nine districts, one council member per district.
