Potter county will gain twenty two miles of asphalt surfacing on all traveled highways. The state highway department awarded a contract to Hoffman Bird Construction Company to pave west to the county line east toward St Francis and north to the Amarillo Creek bridge. County Judge Sam B Vollas announced the plan and noted the beginnings of work on the St Francis highway and North Winiece street paving.
The Panhandle Bankers Association holds its twenty first annual convention in Amarillo led by Jim Barl Fuana president and Frank be ler secretary. Delegates from northern and eastern centers attend as part of a program featuring music by the Girvin Little Symphony orchestra of Chicago.
Mayor Blasdel announced immediate construction of a brick and plate glass business building at the northwest corner of North Fifth and North Milliner streets. Gary Carlander, architect, will draft plans. two storefronts already rented to a dry goods store and a grocer.
The Fort Worth and Denver South Plains railroad proposes two new routes on the South Plains. One from Carey to Gasoline to Plainview with connections near Silverton and Lockney. The second runs from Silverton through Lockney Petersburg to Lubbock. Washington reports a likely grant soon.
Amarillo officials and the Board of City Development discussed May 1928 convention plans to bring the state Teachers College band as the official Amarillo group and to secure support from the Texas Chamber of Commerce. The board approved funding for entertainment and urged an electric signal study, with talks of Coolidge visiting and a big delegation.
Lee Bros. will pitch tents in Bivins Field on West Tenth Street for a two performance visit tomorrow. A big parade is planned at 11 30 a.m. with an afternoon show at 2 p.m. and an evening performance at 8 p.m. The event promotes the "Famous For Food" Amarillo Hotel, The Panhandle's Meeting Place.

Anna Cunningham of Gary Ind faces a sanity hearing after alleged attempts to kill her husband and four children. Exhumation of Walter and Harrison bodies in Valparaiso is under coroner and chemist study. The case involves arsenic poisoning of the family and a hospital ward custody situation as investigators seek to confirm causes.
The Amarillo based Walton league faces gloom as members accuse J Levi manager of Harding’s ranch of deceit over Gerowan car donated fish. A wrecking committee investigates a pool by Harding ranch and turtle catch, led by Bill Bowty.
Phillip H. Wolfram of Chicago has joined the firm of Crome and Killough. The firm name changes to Crome-Killough and Wolfram. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Rush Medical School. Mr Wolfram will come to Amarillo about July 1.
