Texas Relief Commission launches share cannery program
The Texas Relief Commission will sponsor community canning projects enabling private garden and meat producers to can surplus goods. Labor, equipment, and cans are provided with producers receiving 40 to 70 percent shares depending on who furnishes materials. The Amarillo cannery is ready, and sites will open in several localities with relief workers employed in canneries. A Belgian memorial cross marks King Albert’s February 17 1934 accident at Marche les Dames Namur.
