Goodyear fabricators strike over war orders in Akron
About 229 fabricators at Goodyear Tire in Akron walked out today after wage changes took effect. CIO United Rubber Workers leader Sherman Dalrymple urged a return to work, while company spokesman Gene Judd noted the 110 workers on the afternoon shift joined the strike and the 6 P M shift refused to process material. The stoppage endangers materials for 5,000 workers producing barrage balloons, blimps, escape boats and other rubberized war gear.
