North American Aviation opens huge Dallas factory complex

A massive $7 million North American Aviation plant near Dallas and Grand Prairie formally opens as wartime production begins. Texas Senate trims driver license fee to five dimes

The Texas Senate voted 14 to 11 to reduce the proposed drivers license fee from 75 cents for two years to 50 cents for two years. Present licenses were issued for three years for 25 cents. The bill, printed differently from the committee plan, was postponed for further consideration.

Income Tax In England 50 Per Cent Tax For War Finances

Britain imposes a 50 percent income tax to fund the war as a record budget of £4.21 billion. The tax exempt threshold is lowered by £10 to £110 annually, bringing about 2 million additional low wage earners into the tax rolls. Amarillo Woman Dies In Highway Wreck Following Car Flip

Centhia Amine Robertson of 314 North Fillmore Street died at 3 40 this morning when a car overturned twice on a straight stretch of Highway 10, ten miles south of Amarillo. She was 22. Four others were injured including Mrs Helen Stuckey and T P Rozell. All were taken to St. Anthony's Hospital. Investigators said no other vehicle was involved and Rozell claimed the car belonged to him while Griffin drove. This marks the 18th traffic fatality in the Panhandle this year. Robertson's body lay at N S Griggs and Sons Chapel. Survivors include her husband O W Robertson, parents Mr and Mrs John Davis, a brother William Davis, two sisters Mrs Ethel Blanton and Miss Mary Davis. Funeral arrangements pending.

Beggar Plays Portable Phonograph on Amarillo Streets
