Army Officer Held for Murder Near Manila

Klan Receivership Sought in Louisville Unit Case

A petition filed in Louisville circuit court seeks receivership for the local Knights of the Ku Klux Klan unit alleging funds were misappropriated dissipated and squandered. Fireworks Plant Blast Fatal to Many in Hanover

A large explosion and ensuing fire at the National Fire Works company plant in Hanover Massachusetts killed at least one man and left many workers missing. Fire departments from seven towns battled to save magazines and nearby homes as about a third of the plant buildings were destroyed by mid afternoon. Most workers are said to be Portuguese or Lithuanian.

Hereford Selects Site for New High School

Hereford's $125,000 high school will be built on Mrs. R. N. Mounts' property four and one half blocks east of Main Street. The 240 by 1 043 foot site offers ample space for school and playgrounds and lies nearer the business district than the old building. The Mounts residence will be vacated and work will start promptly so the school can be occupied this fall. Citizens praise the choice as the best in the city.

Man Found Dead Beside Road in Texas County

J Scott, 70, was found dead beside a road about twenty five miles north of Amarillo after his wagon without brakes ran down a slope near the Canadian river bridge. Deputies and the coroner reported he likely died from a head injury after falling from the wagon. His son works in a Dabar garage and the wagon was for O C Wyle of Dalart.
