Governor Allred appoints Massie and Hawk to state planning board

Governor James V. Allred named W. M. Massie of Fort Worth banker as chairman and Wilbur C. Hawk of Amarillo newspaper publisher as member of Texas state planning board. The nine member panel must include key state officials and diverse representatives. Hawk, a Republican, and Massie are described as independent picks, with acceptance not yet received.

Panhandle planning board eyed to speed Texas recovery work

Ex Convict Admits Slaying Salesman

James E. McAllister a recent Texas penitentiary release admitted to San Antonio police in a signed statement today that he shot Percy A. Calkins a Houston traveling salesman near Edinburg on Saturday. He was arrested while asleep in the San Antonio Federal Transient Bureau by Hidalgo and Cameron County officers and others who said a Rio Hondo arrestee identified him.

Allred Oil Suit Dismissal Upheld by Texas Court

The Third Court of Civil Appeals upheld a trial court's dismissal of Gov James V. Allred's 1932 anti trust suit against 17 major oil companies. It ruled Texas anti trust laws unconstitutional under a US Supreme Court decision that exempted farm products. The ruling referenced the Recovery Act and noted no ruling on its validity.
