Preliminary negotiations completed for delivering natural gas from Texas Panhandle to Chicago. Insull Son & Company leads with partners Cities Service, Texas Company, Phillips Petroleum, Skelly Oil, Columbian Carbon, and Standard Oil of New Jersey. Peoples Gas to distribute in Chicago with potential Northern Indiana involvement. A 950 mile, 22 inch pipeline will be built by Henry L. Captain Frank Hawks arrived at Oklahoma City Municipal Airport at 12 30 p m in a glider towed by an airplane. He cut free to entertain spectators, then landed at the north end of the field at 12 40 p m after leaving Wichita Falls earlier.
The Panhandle and Amarillo residents prepare to cooperate as the fifteenth decennial census begins. Enumerators started in Amarillo with door to door questions while Hutchinson County delays persist due to scarce enumerators. Perrine plans to issue final instructions in Borger later today.
The American monoplane Pilot with Captain Gewie A. Yancey and two companions arrived safely in Hamilton Bermuda after a 24 hour flight from New York. The craft, equipped with pontoons, spent the night at sea then returned to air, making a low 100 foot approach before being towed to the dockyard.
Eddie Davit, charged with Pee Wee Johns in a December grocery store hold up, goes to district court for a separate trial after severance. The pair were tried jointly in January but the jury deadlocked, with store owners positively identifying both defendants. Johns' trial is expected after the Davis jury retires.

City funds from a $100,000 bond issue will cover the citys share of an underpass on Fillmore Street beneath rail tracks. Estimated total cost 130000 to 140000, divided among the city Rock Island and Denver. A rough plan shows a 1466 foot underpass with two 18 foot lanes and surrounding surface streets. Several businesses fear property impacts and discussed concerns with City Manager Durham.
London reports indicate the plenary naval conference session set for Friday has been postponed to next week without reason. Reijiro Wakatsuki, leading Japan, conveyed Tokyo’s reservations on a tripartite agreement. officials say they will not derail the pact. The Wakatsuki Stimson MacDonald talks at St James’s Palace led to a five power session with Briand and Grandi joining.
Charles Everett Colson 19 sues for damages claiming a night in the Metropolitan Opera House exposed him to opera ghosts including the Meistersinger. He says doors were locked when he tried to leave and that the haunting left him lame, sick, dizzy, sleepless and in pain, seeking 40000 in damages.
United Press reports Chicago April 2 a knotted black ribbon laid with a marriage booklet orange blossoms dance programs and a faded rose in the keepsake box of Reuben C Helsing as a memorial to his brief married life. Mrs Mildred Heising 26 was strangled during housework by a robber who entered the home. Police held a negro janitor in technical custody. The 28 year old husband returned home expecting a greeting kissed his wife found her dead on the floor wrapped in a blanket. He severed the ribbon with scissors. A purse with $15 missing was believed to be loot.
Mrs Jennie Luedke of California files in district court a suit against the American State Bank and Amarillo Building and Loan Association seeking 995.20 she says was paid on a forgery. She claims the loan association issued a check for the amount to a forger who cashed it at the bank.
J. W. Collins vice-chairman of the Crippled Children's Council, Henry Ansley of the Globe News, and others left Amarillo this morning for Vega to attend a Vega Kiwanis Club banquet. Collins spoke on Underprivileged Children's Work. Ambulance contacts Boxwell Bros. and Blackburn's are listed.
In Childress on April 2 the seventh annual conference of Eighth District Texas Congress of Mothers and Parent-Teacher Associations opened with about 260 attendees. The three day program centers on Worthy Home Membership Through Parent Education with sessions on extracurricular activities and district leadership. Delegates from counties across the district heard from Mrs. T. V. Reeves and district president Mrs. J. M. Crain at First Methodist Church.
A street crash near Canyon left one man hospitalized as Billy Hewes and J D Cooper faced speeding charges while nine others were charged with drunkenness. State patrolman Lee Miller reported the wreck involved Hewes, Cooper and others, with the officer overturning his motorcycle in the ditch. Officers spent the night seeking Hewes before arresting him and Cooper along with C Chapman and H W Miles.
The Senate commerce sub committee approved a $154,000,000 federal appropriation for unemployment relief. The panel, which studied the issue with agency support, will report the measures to the full commerce committee, which is expected to back them. In Ireland, a Dail Beireann vote to elect Eamon De Valera as president of the Free State Council failed 93 to 74. In Washington, W. B. Bell of American Cyanamid testified that the firm spent $168,706 seeking Muscle Shoals lease from the government.
In Buffalo on April 2 Judge Bret Thorn convened court for the Lila Jimerson murder complicity case involving Clothilde Marchand and ordered a recess to 1 p.m.
Texas cities announced new leaders after yesterday's elections. In Pampa the contest favored administration candidates, a dog fight reportedly sparked the only excitement. Mayor-elect D. W. Osborne defeated R. C. Campbell 926 to 240. Lynn Boyd and Clyde Fatheree became commissioners. Dallas approved a $4 million sewer bond 2 to 1. Laredo re elected all city officers led by Mayor Albert Martin. Gainesville kept the manager form of government. Beulah Allred remained jailed on liquor transportation charges.
Washington April 2 The House Judiciary Committee abruptly ended its hearings on repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment except for rebuttal testimony. Drys were to present closing arguments but the session closed after J Weston Allen testified on legal aspects. PF Scott McBride and other leaders prepared statements for the record. McBride urged education and enforcement as the sole answer to the alcohol question. Allen cited liberty precedents showing individual rights yielding to public policy. See DRY LAW Page 3.
