Amarillo Man Drowns After Pool incident
A 25 year old Amarillo resident Steven Ray Hampton died after being found at the bottom of the YMCA pool at 6168 Van Buren. He was dead on arrival at Amarillo Emergency Receiving Center. Hampton previously gained local headlines in 1968 for a motorcycle accident leaving partial paralysis. He spent four months in a coma at Northwest Texas Hospital following the crash.
