Special to The News reports Minnie Lumpkin 19 died from a Ro swell New Mexico shooting where William E Johnson wounded Noma Foreman and the girl’s father intervened. Johnson then tried to kill himself and died later from wounds. In Huntsville three of 18 Wynne State farm convicts who tunneled out were recaptured by authorities and others pursued.
Two Victims in Sayre Oklahoma Country Dance Incident
Sayre Oklahoma September 29. Thirty four persons held in county jail after two serious cases near the town late last night. One fatally injured man white the other Black man. Ike Martin 21 white charged with serious case of Robert Manning 26 white who was hurt with a sharp object near a country dance twelve miles northwest. Thirty three Black suspects held in a separate incident five miles northeast involving Sterling Caudell Black electrician. Authorities found eleven men and two women at the white dance while Caudell was reportedly struck by a Black assailant partly hidden by darkness. Caudell’s body placed in automobile by Dan Nethery Clyde Wilson. car overturned injuring Nethery slightly. Sheriff and deputies arrested 33 suspects near the scene.

Five Station Robberies and Taxi Hold Up Last Night
Amarillo police logged one of their busiest nights in years as five filling stations and a taxi hold up were linked to a single gang using two new Ford cars. robberies occurred between 9 and 9 30 p m with two or three assailants. Alton Phillips, Yellow Cab driver, was forced from his cab at Northwest Eighth avenue by a man and woman who then drove off with his money. Stations robbed included Pennant Filling Station at Fifth Avenue and Fillmore where attendant Fred Shultz was held up for about eight dollars. Other Gulf Refining stations on Sixth Avenue and Monroe and Third Avenue and Buchanan were not entered. At the fire station Elbert Stuckey was forced to comply with the robbers.
