Four men killed in Plainview car wreck
Four men died when a 1941 Chevrolet coupe and a 1948 Ford pickup collided near Plainview, Texas. The victims are Travis W. Nivens 31 of Hale Center and three men from Raymondville and San Benito. Nivens was the car’s driver. Pena is believed to have driven the pickup. Fire followed the crash. Funeral services for Nivens tentatively set for Monday at Hale Center Church of Christ. Funeral home in Plainview is handling arrangements. Nivens, born 1917 in Alvord, was a World War II veteran and Hale Center resident for 22 years.

Girl Fatally Run Over In Plainview
Barbara Sue McNutt four year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Lester McNutt was killed when she ran from behind a parked truck and was struck by a passing vehicle. Ardis D Lindsey 19 of Plainview driving the truck stopped after the body was carried about 30 feet. Lindsey and a passerby Tom McDonald rushed the child to a hospital where she died on arrival. Survivors include her parents and two brothers Lesal and Eldon.
