Chicago Sept 25 AP Stanley Mauldin 27 year old star tackle for the Chicago Cardinals died in the Comiskey Park dressing room after collapsing post shower following a game with Philadelphia. He was unconscious, pronounced dead by Dr Sidney Portis. Mauldin a Texas alum and Air Corps veteran had played most of the first half and entered the final minutes. Survivors include his widow and a 5 year old son. Mauldin known as Big Sam and a native of Amarillo Texas. He had been listed as one of Texas greatest tack les and served as first lieutenant flying 35 bombing missions. He joined Cardinals in 1946 after service.
Hollywood reports the death of Warren William veteran film actor and sportsman at his Encino home after a 10 month illness starting with Virus X. He died of multiple myeloma at age 53 survived by his widow Helen, married 25 years, with physician Dr. Stanley Gordon naming the cause.
Inez Gibbs Lindsay, about 45, died when her car overturned several times and plunged into a deep arroyo on Highway 87 eight miles east of Des Moines New Mexico. Horace R. Lindsay, about 55, was injured and hospitalized. The couple, from 1210 Washington, were found about 3 PM and 4 PM respectively. Funeral arrangements are by Griggs & Sons.
A weary band of travelers wrap up a long en durance run to spread goodwill for the Tri State Fair. Friday visits included McLean Groom Shamrock Wheeler Pampa White Deer Panhandle and more. Bob Mills led as barker in chief with P Berthelot having held the honor earlier in the week.

West Texas State College Canyon reports 1,520 students registered by week end, topping 1946's high by 144. Full time campus enrollment is 1,229 with 291 at Amarillo Center, including 455 ex servicemen. Amarillo leads out of town totals with 146. Canyon campus towns total 152.
Gov. Thomas E. Dewey opened his Pacific Coast presidential bid with a vow to tighten laws against Communists, saying if current laws fail they will be strengthened. He spoke in Los Angeles on Friday night as President Truman headed east with sharp rebukes of Republican tactics.
President Truman, en route to Yuma, told Oceanside California crowds that Communists plan treason unless laws are enforced. He accused opposition of concealing intent and using double talk while urging support for his stance during the Western tour ending October 2.

Pamela Lamphere, 22 months, showed improvement after a Wednesday operation to relieve a rare bladder condition in Chicago. Doctors noted she played with dolls, remained cheerful, and had normal temperature. Two more operations are planned, the next in about three weeks, amid earlier parental disagreement.
