Tragic double death as Oklahoma father kills wife then himself
In Woodward Oklahoma on September 22 Bill Ricker a 36 year old car salesman strangled his wife Eva 34 with a silk stocking after a bitter quarrel over their daughter's boyfriend. He then shot himself through the jugular vein, dying at home. Their 11 year old son found them. The 16 year old daughter had left home the night before. Mrs Ricker worked at Pollyanna cafe. The Rickers had lived in Woodward since 1926 after moving from Kansas.

Husband of Woman Poison Victim Here Is Killed at Hobbs
C. C. Rice, 30, son of Bill Rice, was killed at Hobbs New Mexico, and his body will be buried in Nocona, Texas. His wife Lucille Inman Rice, 22, died in Amarillo after drinking poison, registered from Dallas, leaving a 4 year old son and a Fort Worth sister. Her father J. E. Mayes of Fort Worth was at her bedside.

E B Putnam former Santa Fe employee sues for 50 000 alleging negligence by the railway in a March 31 yard incident. He was injured while boarding a switch engine, his right leg amputated, claiming failures to stop engine, slow down, sudden forward move, a rock hazard, and a slippery foot-board.

Wellington Tragedy: Three Boys Burned In Farm Fire
Wellington, Sept. 22. Odom Lloyd Hoffman eight and Edward Overcast nine died after a gasoline fire on the Hoffman farm. Ralph Overcast, six, is gravely ill in hospital while relatives hope for his recovery. The boys, playing with a lamp and gasoline, tried to burn a hammer handle. a match ignited the gasoline. Odom Lloyd died within hours, Edward soon after, Ralph survived but endangered. Separate funeral services planned for Tuesday.

Track Laying Starts on Santa Fe Line to Boise City
Work began today on the Amarillo to Boise City segment with grading between Amarillo and the Canadian River due by November 1. Rails and girders will be delivered in October and a gasoline locomotive is deployed at Boise City to aid laying, with track reaching Stratford by December 1. W H Rochester, Santa Fe construction engineer, and W H Durbin, track inspector, will oversee the project from Amarillo.

Prisoner Skin Loss After Sheriff Foot Chase

Train Hits Car Fatal for Woman and Three Children
Eastland Texas on Sept 22 at a rural crossing a westbound train struck an automobile carrying Mrs. E W Halbert 30 and her children Elbert 9 Clifton 11 along with Mary Louise Mitchell 6. The woman and three children died and a fourth child L W Mitchell Jr 9 was injured. The Halberts lived two miles from town and their children had entered a local grade school.

The Tri-State fair began under wind and dust with Wilbur C. Hawk estimating 15,000 visitors by afternoon and 60,000 by night, total turnout larger than ever.
