Old Settlers and visiting delegations led the Tri-State Fair crowd with bands and activities drawing a larger turnout than Monday's 30,000. Weather forecaster noted a brief gloomy spell during the fair as despite the skies, attendees remained eager and energized.

Judging of swine and dairy cattle Boy and Girl Scout work continued.
Partly cloudy to cloudy with possible light rains cooler on Thursday in Amarillo and Panhandle. New Mexico outlook generally fair with cooler conditions in the east portion. Hourly temperatures list a high near 1081.82 and a low near 1081.59 yesterday.
Witness Mrs. T B Hilton testified that F W Brown was killed by Slim Richardson and Hugh Walker. She said Covington did not fire the shots and that Ross placed Covington near the car with a 30 30 rifle. The state rested. defense began calling witnesses.
The World War Pageant presented as a dramatic, ghastly realism of war. staged by 200 Texas National Guard members under Verne Newcombe. It featured 24 Allied flags and a processional by Amarillo and Canyon groups and aimed to show war’s futility and urge universal peace.
A thousand Panhandle pioneers gathered at the Tri-State Fair grounds Wednesday for the Panhandle Old Settlers Association meeting hailed as the biggest yet. Judge H E Hoover of Canadian was elected president with five vice presidents and Catherine Patrick of Clarendon named treasurer. Old timer stories and roll calls highlighted the two hour program.
The La Follette faction suffered a major setback as Governor Philip F. La Follette and Senator John J. Blaine lost renomination bids. Walter J. Kohler led the GOP gubernatorial ticket, ending a 40 year dominance by the La Follettes. Late returns show Kohler ahead about 100000 votes while Blaine trails John B. Chapple by about 20000.
The third special session of the 42nd Texas legislature adjourned after 23 days with Governor Sterling pushing relief measures. A key bill defines theft of oil to ease prosecutions in the East Texas field and provides immediate effect upon signature. Other acts reimburse counties for road bond proceeds and loosen penalties on delinquent taxes.
Wilbur C. Hawk, Tri State Fair director, announced A M Texas Tech game at Butler Field as the first in a planned annual series. A M coach Matty Bell must bring his main squad with two former Amarillo stars in attendance. Tickets $1.10 grandstand $1.65 grandstand $2.20 box seats. All seats reserved.
A 16 year old 4 H worker J T McDaniel of Tulia Swisher County won top pork producer in the Panhandle at the fourth annual Master Dairy Farmer and first annual Pork Production Contests. McDaniel received 100 dollars and a gold medal at a joint banquet held at the Herring Hotel. C C Stewart of Canyon Randall County earned Master Dairy Farmer 1931 32 title. T R L May of Amherst placed third in both events for a diversified farming showing.
Edgar Arledge a University of Texas senior from Crockett and Margaret Trull were shot as they sat in a car on the city outskirts two miles from the campus. Arledge died from a head wound. Trull received a scalp wound and was hospitalized. Police fear robbery motive and questioned a 16 year old boy found nearby. a bullet from the same gun killed Arledge and wounded Trull.

Wilks and sons Plainview Truman Miller Vega and L. L. Hillbrunner Shamrock each earned medals for eighth place. Contestants total 147 attending the banquet with Wilbur C. Hawk as toastmaster. The event honored Henry Ansley of The News- Globe staff. E N Regenbrecht noted top ten hog producers profited despite the year’s hardship.
