Oldest Episcopal Bishop Bishop Leonard Dies at 85
Bishop William A. Leonard of the Episcopal Church died at his Gambier home at 85 after more than a year of illness. He retired last spring after leading the Ohio diocese for over four decades and served as temporary head of the church following earlier deaths and resignations. He is survived by niece Mrs. Florence Sullivan and Canon Orville Watson.

In Fresno California on September 21 Joel Earl Crane a 30 year old student flier from Madera died when their plane fell near Madera. Norman T Price a 21 year old navy flier from the U S S Lexington suffered fatal injuries in the same crash. Price's home is listed as Hollis Kansas.

Parachute Jumper Leaps To Death Over Hudson Bridge
Norman J. Terry a 24 year old professional high diver and parachute jumper from Kittanning Pennsylvania died after leaping from the uncompleted Hudson River bridge. He fell about 275 feet striking the water on his back and died instantly. Police arrested his manager James J. Murray on a technical charge. The jump surpassed the Steve Brodie Brooklyn Bridge feat in height.
