Ford Motor Co increased 1967 model prices by an average 25 dollars per car with a top rise of 347 dollars for Mercury Park Lane. Amarillo city commissioners tentatively okayed a 23 percent increase in domestic natural gas rates for Pioneer Natural Gas Co. The move, opposed by Hugh Porterfield who urged an independent city audit, would raise the average homeowner’s yearly bill by about $11.95. Porterfield cited concerns over Pioneer’s financials and questioned the companys reported 2.47 percent return. The vote passed with Mayor Walter F. Wallace and other members approving. Commissioner L O Brien Thomson was absent.
