The dairy price control board refused to reimpose ceilings on milk and by products after three days of talks. Chairman Roy L. Thompson said prices near a critical point but not enough grounds to act now. The panel will monitor butter and cheese trends and consider future steps.
The board urged evidence before Wednesday and focused on cheese and butter prices. Thompson reiterated that under the price control act they will watch dairy prices and intervene if unreasonably high, citing August 20 findings that dairy products were in short supply and regulation would serve the public interest. He noted the third Congress requirement for recontrol was not met, namely an unreasonable price increase over the June 30 ceiling plus subsidy.
The United States accuses Yugoslavia of failing to cooperate in Trieste security and condemns pro Slav provocations in Zone A Venezia Giulia.
