Fair rodeo drew large crowds as Amarillo Boy ridden by Billy Bishop from Gordon Nebraska earned a first clean victory for a rider over the fiery bronc. Leonard Stroud’s horse, with others, showcased brisk bulldogging by Gene Ross of Sayre Oklahoma in 9.8 seconds and solid times from James Irwin and Hugh Bennett. Thirteen contestants tried bulldogging with ten succeeding before page two.

Witness Beaten After Identifying Robbery Suspect
Fort Worth report states Jere Green a 23 year old stock yards bank messenger and prosecuting witness in the Barney Mc Ganegal robbery trial was struck on the street near the courthouse by a roughy dressed man. The assailant was captured by four deputy sheriffs after a chase in which a shot was fired. Green had identified Mc Ganegal as one of four men who robbed him of 1800 dollars in cash and 18000 dollars in checks on August 10 1931. Two other men alleged to be with the attacker were also detained.

Mrs Sarah Jane Garner 81 died at her Detroit home after a weeklong illness from a toxic poisoning. Surrounded by her children she witnessed the rise of her son John Nance as a political figure. Funeral set for tomorrow and burial in the family vault beside her husband and two children. Born May 20 1651 in a Texas frontier family, she spent her life in Lamar and Red River counties.
