Dairy judging closed with T H Turney of Claude winning high honors for Jerseys. Tri-State Fair drew large crowds with numerous visiting delegations and bands expected, including Memphis with its 36 piece Black and Gold band arriving early today.
At least seven visiting bands and delegations arrive for the fair. Racing begins at 2:30. Tom Mix heads a circus with two performances at 2 P.M. and 8 P.M. The Western States Shows and motor show run day and night with most exhibits judged and staying in place. A Kallio Carr non title wrestling bout is at Municipal Auditorium at 8 P.M.
Delegations arrive this morning with bands as Dumas is represented. Yesterday marked Oklahoma Day and Old Settlers’ Day with about 2,000 attendees at the twentieth annual meeting in a circus tent. Wilbur C. Hawk reported about 75 percent of daily crowds came from out of town and an attendance record was hung up early in the exposition, likely to be surpassed on Thursday.

The case says 500 dollars was demanded for an operation on the banker’s daughter and charges followed arrest under a bridge August 28 after a dummy package was left. A Childress youth linked to Miss Crouch was freed.
Special to The News from Washington reports Texas quota for Civilian Conservation Corps new enlistments starting October 1 was placed at 3483 by director Robert Fechner. Orders go to state selection and veterans offices to secure the number at once. New recruits replace dropouts or those discharged at the end of the current period.
Elite livestock from top breeders will parade at the Tri-State Fair Friday night at 7 15 beginning with a free show. Screen star Tom Mix will officiate with a concert by Amarillo High School. Grand champions and blue ribbon winners will pass in review before the grandstand as the event is billed the third largest and most up to date livestock show in the United States.

Charles G. Newcomer of Hemphill County has been named Master Balanced Farmer of the Panhandle Plains for 1934. The honor came at a noon luncheon at the Herring Hotel with farmers from the Panhandle Plains and state agriculturists in attendance. He scored 924 out of 1,000 and received a gold medal and $75 cash. Frank Weil of Hale Center was second with 894.
