In Columbia on September 17 students in a 20th century literature class at the University of Missouri were assigned to room 110 in the Art and Science building. The room is a women’s restroom. Instructor Dr. Donald F. Drummond relocated the class saying it is a very small ladies’ room with 105 students in the course.
The second day of the Tri-State Fair starts at 9 a.m. with Hereford open classes and Quarter Horse roping eliminations. Cattle and Quarter Horse events fill the Coliseum and rodeo arena while 1:30 p.m. marks the start of Quarter Horse cutting. Thousands are expected after Monday’s record opening day. Major events included Angus show and 4-H and FFA junior market steer show with grand and reserve champions named. A large midway and Cisco Kid appearance add to the day’s activities.
The act performs two days at the fairgrounds from 2 to 10 p.m. with Ice Capades kicking off Monday and another show at 8 p.m. tonight. Tickets are available at the Herring Hotel and the Ice Capades box office on the fairgrounds.
Today's events include Judging Hereford Open Classes and Quarter Horse Roping with Junior and Senior Roping rounds at 9:00 a.m. followed by Quarter Horse Cutting rounds at 1:30 p.m. Junior and Senior Cutting go rounds occur for each division. Ice Capades performance at 8:00 p.m. at the Coliseum.

In the 31st Senate district caucus Amarillo’s Carl Hill Jr is named state executive committeeman for a fourth term, Mrs. A C Wilkinson for committeewoman, and Virgil Crabtree to credentials. Other posts go to Max Boyer, George B Boyd, Dick Brown, and Jimmie Thompson. Contests affect Imogene Williams versus Wilkinson, with Williams seeking transfer of votes for acclamation. Thompson wins the run off after vote switches.
