All records for first day attendance at the Tri-State Fair were broken yesterday as exposition grounds packed with a holiday crowd. More delegations with bands expected today including Panhandle White Deer and Hereford. Stock judging today features livestock breeders from the entire Southwest.
Wilbur C. Hawk invites Tri State area newspapermen to attend Press Day at the fair. Hereford cattle judging begins at 8 o clock with entrants from several states. Exhibits and agriculture displays draw crowds as automotive show offers free gate and a chance to win a new motor car.
Dionne quintuplets show progress in recovery from intestinal toxemia after Wednesday’s illness. Cecile remains weakest with mild fever and indigestion, but Yvonne Annette Emilie and Marie gained weight. Dr Dafoe reports overall improvement and an extra nurse remains on duty.
U S Surgeon General Hugh S Cummings agreed to cooperate with Rep Marvin Jones to study the widespread brown tooth stain among Panhandle children and seek its cause. In Catonsville near Baltimore a plane refused a commerce license buckled in flight and crashed from about 1000 feet killing two men James Yost 28 a transport pilot and Charles Mauer 21 a Baltimore Glass Company employee Witnesses saw the wing crumple around the fuselage as the craft plunged Yost struggled to regain control and both men were crushed beyond recognition.
Jimmy McLarnin reclaimes the welterweight crown at Madison Square Garden in a 15 round split decision over Barney Ross amid boos and close judging. Eye injuries and blood mark the brutalght by both fighters as Donovan ultimately sides with McLarnin to restore the Irishman on the throne.
A massive fire swept three business blocks in Nome Alaska at noon today threatening the city. Fire department and residents struggled to contain the flames as the blaze raged.

District Attorney H. B. Wellborn received a complaint from the State Railroad Commission accusing J. Sanford, operator of the Earl well on the Pinkston lease, of using a device to prevent accurate measurement of production. Wellborn is co owner of the well.
