Clovis Holds Negro as Slayer Suspect in Gallup Murder
Special to The News reports that a man named Herbert Green, 23, 5 ft 9½ in, 138 pounds, from Wellington Texas, is held in Clovis county jail on suspicion of killing Louis Silva, Gallup night watchman. Officer D W Cox chased and arrested him near Santa Fe yards after spotting an old hat and shoes matching the suspect.

Packing Plant Set to Buy Stock This Thursday
Remodeling Amarillo's Pinkney Packing Company will be ready to receive cattle this Thursday and hogs by mid October, offering cash on delivery for small dry lot feeders and boosting local livestock receipts. The plant renovates with updated machinery and separate electric divisions, adding new smoke houses and a sausage kitchen to market Panhandle branded products. Amarillo chef Charles Renfro alias Bob Brunson confessed to fatally shooting Clyde Palmer in Asheville North Carolina on September 4 1926. He said he acted in self defense after Palmer pursued him in a car while Renfro used a companion’s gun. Renfro was arrested in Amarillo and extradition papers were issued amid a prior reward.

Farmer slain by friend who feared enemy
A. J. MacDonald, a Cross Roads area farmer, was shot to death last night by Roy Looper, a longtime acquaintance and deputy sheriff. Looper said he believed MacDonald was an outlaw. MacDonald died in his car after Looper fired through the windshield. MacDonald’s widow and three sons survive. Looper has not been arrested.

Frank Mitchell, a well known Southwest cowman from Amarillo, turned up in Durango Colorado after sudden travel from Amarillo. He wired his wife from Durango stating he was well and would return home Wednesday. Reports of his whereabouts caused alarm and search parties in Dumas and Channing before confirmation of his safety.
