The court will convene at Clo Vis on Wednesday for a retrial of Mrs Halsey charged with slaying, following a venue change. The decision to retry was ordered by the judge and sets the case for trial in the new location.
Roswell New Mexico reports the state will seek a further continuance in the Curry county murder trial of Mrs Catherine Halsey for the death of her husband Fred Halsey. The case originates from Chaves Eddy and Roswell venues with prior verdicts involving Luther Foster and Claude Archer. Archer had death sentence commuted to life by Governor Dillon and Foster also received life imprisonment on review.
In Cape Girardeau Missouri on a crowded dance hall floor Lawrence C. Stallings killed his divorced wife Bertha Stallings 88 after she refused to dance. Mary Griffin 28 was critically wounded and Jerry Hagen was shot in the wrist and hip.
Carl Sparks, 15, freshman at Kirwin High School in Kirwin, Kansas, was hospitalized in Concordia with serious internal injuries after a hazing incident Saturday night. He underwent surgery after being thrown to the ground and piled upon by fellow students.
J T Vendal, 57, of Wilson Texas, was killed instantly when his car drove into a Santa Fe passenger train at a crossing near Ballinger depot. The crash occurred yesterday as Vendal was near the Ballinger depot.
The Associated Press reports Lieutenant Charles P. Wells of Denver and John T. Long of Baja Jug La. were fatally injured when their aircraft spiraled from 300 feet and crashed at the municipal landing field in Colorado Springs.

Amarillo Tri-State exposition offices will relocate to the Fair Park main gate office on September 19 after moving from 310 Polk Street on September 18. One staffer remains downtown to handle information. Officials cite improved efficiency and no ticket staff as reasons for the change and urge early business for concession and parking space.

Four men were reported held by police after a note in a boyish scrawl triggered a trap in Chicago's Loop. Billy Ranieri, 10, son of A Frank Ranieri, is held for 60,000 dollars ransom for ten days. The note demanded cash and instructed placement of 15,000 dollars in a rubbish box at a street intersection. Ranieri had been seeking help independently of authorities.
Reports from Porto Rico indicate more than 250 dead across nine islands and 77 towns after last Thursday’s hurricane. Population impact is immense with 70 percent rural and many towns still cut off. The total dead listed reaches 253, as recovery and communications remain challenging.
Bascom N. Timmons reports that 219 air traffic violators were summoned before the aeronautics branch court on a range of infractions last year. Most cases closed. 116 received reprimands. Civil penalties totalled 500 to 3000 dollars in 65 cases under the 1926 Air Commerce Act.
U S Senator Joseph Robinson the Democratic presidential nominee will speak in Clovis on October 5 and in Roswell on October 6. The Roswell address comes during the final day of the Chaves County Cotton Carnival with a push for a large crowd.
George Haines, 30, died from a gunshot wound in Childress Texas after a dance. Sheriff John Compton witnessed the shooting and arrested a man whose charges will be filed.

Communications into the affected area were cut or limited, with Nassau reporting loss of wireless contact. Weather officials cited roofs blown off in Palm Beach and uncertain verification due to broken lines.

Police officials in Riverside California say information convinces them the tale of the slaughter of three boys and a Mexican youth as related by Sanford Clark is true. The matter is kept from public until presented to the Riverside grand jury. In Temple Texas two Boy Scout uniformed boys matching the Los Angeles descriptions passed through town but were not interviewed.
Miami experienced a communications blackout at 3 30 p m as tropical winds of about fifty miles per hour disrupted service to the city. Tropical Radio remained operational despite losing two aerials. Continued on page 2 column 6.
