State labor mediators in Michigan seek a new formula under the Taft Hartley Act to end a prolonged strike that has left about 50,000 Briggs Manufacturing workers in Detroit idle. The dispute involves the Firemen and Engineer Switchmen's Union of North America and Briggs Manufacturing Company.
Roy Robb 35 of Sulphur Oklahoma a construction foreman was killed instantly when a crane boom touched a 7000 to 13000 volt line in the 1400 block of West Seventh as workers ferried a lock-bar into place. L H Ramsey another foreman survived after being knocked back about ten feet and stunned. the incident halted work on a new garage.

The Weather Bureau reports generally fair conditions with little temperature change for Amarillo and vicinity today and Friday. West Texas mostly fair with slight cooling. American authorities said a German official linked to the Berlin city government was to be tried in secret by Soviet authorities. Dr. Curt Mueckenberger, former Berlin Central Coal manager, was arrested after removal from office for an uncooperative attitude. The charge cited his refusal to obey Soviet orders, seen as part of Moscow’s effort to supplant the city government.
National Home Builders Association executive vice president Frank Cortright told about 200 Texas builders that public housing and government control threaten the industry. Frankfurter Neue Presse reports Fritz Thyssen, once Germany’s wealthiest industrialist, found guilty as a minor Nazi offender by a denazification court. Thyssen, now 74, must surrender property valued but not disclosed. he claimed he is broke and living off friends.
