Fire department uses aerial ladder on new building blaze
At 6 45 p m yesterday a two alarm fire atop the White and Kirk building at Sixth Avenue and Polk Street drew crowds as the aerial ladder shot 75 feet to the structure. A lone firefighter climbed the ladder to report the fire consisted of burning rags. Fire Chief Cooper noted the aerial truck had not been used in months.

Rita Blanca dam project under way near Dalhart
Ted L. Smith announced ongoing poprcleanary work at the Rita Blanca dam two miles southeast of Dalhart. Temporary buildings rise at the site as core trench and conduit excavation begins and concrete fittings will start Monday. The project will form a 458 acre basin with 9 600 acre feet capacity, a 75 foot high dam 1 800 feet long and extensive earth fill.
