Pioneer jurist dies after car crash in Amarillo
Thomas F. Turner 65 longtime Amarillo lawyer and civic figure died Sunday in a Northwest Texas hospital from injuries in a Saturday evening collision at Tenth Avenue and Georgia Street. Funeral at Polk Street Methodist Church at 2 30 p m with Dr L N Stuckey presiding. Interment in Llano cemetery. Blackburn's Mortuary in charge. Turner married Alberta Lockett in 1890 and was a lifelong Methodist, active in church leadership and education.

Cloudburst floods roads north of Pampa after weekend rain
Special to The News reports a cloudburst near Pampa on September 15 causing roads north of the town to flood one to two feet. Rainfall reached two inches in Pampa by 10 p.m. and four inches four miles north. It was still raining, raising fears of significant damage from the downpour.
