A gas and oil discovery at the Cree and Hoover well near Pampa started Sunday at 2,990 feet. Wind drove oil spray across the area as storage tanks and emergency earthen tanks rose to contain the spill. Initial flow estimated 40 to 45 barrels per hour with gas around 50,000,000 cubic feet, and full control expected only after Monday night.

Circus Man Bitten by Camel at Ringling Bros Circus
James Gray, a circus employee, was attacked by a camel from Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey about 10 p.m. on Sunday. The camel gripped his forearm. Gray had trained the animal for over a year and was not afraid. The forearm muscles were badly mangled and he was taken to St Anthony's Hospital where serum was given to prevent lockjaw.

A. B. Wilbanks of Little Rock Arkansas is in Clarendon hospital in serious condition after a Sunday night automobile crash two and a half miles west of Alanreed. In M CAMEY Texas Leon Euckert 23 killed his estranged wife Dorothy with three shots at her sister Mrs George Finch home and then shot himself twice. Justice B A Sturdivant ruled murder and death by own action. Dorothy had moved to the area with their daughter La Verna seven after separating from Euckert three weeks earlier. Euckert left a note to notify his parents in Fletcher Oklahoma. Dorothy’s parents Mr and Mrs J B Maton of Lawton Oklahoma survive.

In South Bend Indiana 17 year old Alice Waltman was killed in her bed by a razor wielding intruder who fled after nearly decapitating her. The killer escaped by jumping from a second story window as police search for a ne er do well suspect. The eight year old Richard slept nearby and was not awakened. The family includes sisters Henrietta 20 Evelyn 19 and mother Kate Waltman. Police described the attacker as attached to the girl and recently unemployed with plans to go to Florida. A trail of dirty and bloody fingerprints marked his entry and exit.
