Four men shot to death in Louisiana election riot
At Plaquemine Point polling booth in St. Landry parish four men died and two bystanders were wounded as a revolver fight erupted amid a heated Democratic primary. John Childs and his two sons Thomas and Getty were killed. Joseph Cormier, an election commissioner, was wounded along with two Richard brothers. Cormier killed Childs, then was shot by the Childs men. Cormier died later. the Richards were injured by stray bullets. Authorities see a long simmering feud linked to land disputes and past slights.
